Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair

March 4, 2021

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium

Dear Student STEM Researchers, Sponsors and Parents,

As our world has experienced since mid-March, we can only plan on how to respond to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The community members who volunteer to plan the annual Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair have made the following modifications so we can still conduct MSEF in 2021 and allow our top projects to remain eligible for the state science fair:

  • ·      The first round of judging will be based on pre-recorded videos.  Video submissions must be submitted no later than 10:00 p.m. CST on February 5, 2021.
  • ·       A limited number of projects will be invited to final round judging on March 4, 2021.  We hope to conduct the final round in person at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.  If in-person gatherings still are discouraged, we are prepared to modify the event to a live video conference to ensure a safe environment for student presentations.

Keep up-to-date about developments with MSEF by following us on Twitter @MSEFOmaha, on Facebook/MSEFOmaha, and on this website.  As in the past, sponsors will receive periodic emails throughout the year with reminders, clarifications, and additional details to support students.

Best wishes on your research this school year.
Sincerely,
Dan Sitzman
MSEF President
